About Stephanie Dayle
I am writer for the American Preppers Network, a small local paper and here, on The Home Front. I write articles based on my own experience about emergency preparedness, self-sufficiency, homesteading, food preservation and life around the farmstead.

I grew up in a very rural area where we raised horses, cattle, turkeys, game birds, and chickens with the standard variety of dogs and cats. My family grew three large gardens, and we canned almost all of what we could from those gardens. I also learned to hunt and fish and how to use and preserve all of what we harvested. Yes, families such as mine still do exist!

In high school and college I also spent six years volunteering for the local county Search and Rescue group where I learned a variety of outdoor survival skills and a little bit about law enforcement protocol. For my entire life I have been an avid hiker, backpacker and outdoors enthusiast.

As a general principle do not write articles about information that I have only read - if I am writing about something, or videoing something it's because of I have done it myself and gone to great lengths to provide you with the facts. I don't just tell you how to do something I show you. I also have a full time job with an hour commute - my alter egos are as a Marketing Director, and an amateur photographer.
About The Home Front
The Home Front is a personal blog, about my life out here in Eastern Washington. I will be posting the articles I write for APN and others about self-reliance on here, along my personal experiences, photos, thoughts, beliefs or whatever I have been up to.  It is an informal, christian, pro-american, pro-Republic, non-conspiracy theory and conservative, privately run blog. It will frequently feature my "opinion" on things, you may not always like my opinion, but as the blog author I have a right to state it.

I support the U.S. Government as a Republic under The Constitution as intended by our Founding Fathers. I support the reform and restoration of both. I believe in reform through self reliance, education and understanding.

"They who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."-Benjamin Franklin

My Theory on Emergency Preparedness
I do not believe in prepping out of fear. Instead, I believe in “preparedness through self-reliance.” It's a way of living your life, not just something a person does - and then you don't have to do it anymore. If one takes to heart the philosophy of self-reliance (“providing needed things for yourself that you would otherwise have had to pay money for” –Phil Burns, APN Founder) by default you are well on your way to being “prepared” for any emergency that may strike. What ‘makes’ someone start prepping is going to be different person to person, but when all is said and done, it's all about a core belief to be reliant on ourselves, and not the government or others.

Those who practice "self reliance" have become the new bearers of old information. Taking care of yourself and providing for your family used to be common knowledge, now it's rare. If a true disaster ever falls upon this great nation, communities will survive because handfuls of people within them have made the effort to learn how to take care of themselves and protect themselves.

Many of us have taken the extra step of not waiting for disaster, but are teaching others about preparedness and how to be self-reliant lifestyle right now, which why I write and teach. One cannot teach or set a good example to anyone if one hides under the semi-mythical cloak of OPSEC (Operation Security: see conspiracy theories, below).

“When the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty.”
― Thomas Jefferson

My Opinion on Conspiracy Theories
In order for me to believe in a conspiracy theory it has to make sense. I have to immediately see how it would work on a large scale logistically and financially. It also needs to be backed up with something OTHER than blog posts, preferably with current scientific information in the form of accurate definitions, statistics and studies.

The above is otherwise as known as a "credible source." Either that, or the referenced blog post has to be linked to a "credible source" where they got their information - not another blog written by some supposed ex-physician or ex-military guy. I am sorry "but, they are suppressing the truth!" Is. Not. Good. Enough. This is a simplistic example, but I could literally make up any cockamamy story I wanted to scare the crap out of people and claim "but, they are suppressing the truth!" to substantiate it. Then rake in the money from doing so (that's right folks, fear mongering is big internet business, it sells alot of books, internet ads, products, and drives a lot of web traffic). Not only that, but they also serve as handy distraction - the old sleight of hand trick. Watch this hand and not what the other one is doing. When the other hand could simply be what is going on in reality - the eroding of our personal rights and the slow destruction of the Republic as our Founding Fathers intended it. Ask yourself, just who is benefiting from these conspiracy theories?

I will not participate in propagating theories that I can easily disprove with 20 minutes on google. Because if I can - I know full well, you can too. I am exceedingly well versed in the subjects I that talk about and with most of these conspiracy theories and I can assure you I am not brainwashed or "working for *them*" (that is such a cop-out accusation btw).  I was a nerd LONG before I was ever considered a homesteader or a prepper. Telling me to do my research is like telling a rock to sit there.

Communicating With Stephanie:
Due to the nature of how I live, I will not be posting everyday. Between a full time job, the animals, the garden, and two additional part time jobs, my time is very limited online. Because of this if you would like to follow me – I highly encourage you to follow my blog with google and friend me on facebook

I despise texting, instant messaging, skype and even 90% of the phone calls I get. It just always seems to distract me from what I need to be doing, so I keep electronic disturbances to a minimum. However, I am good at responding to comments on the blog, comments on facebook and business related emails as time allows, so if you’d like to contact me that is the best way to do so.
